Daycare Worker Arrested After Child Receives Injury to Head
A Lollipop Lane Daycare employee has been arrested after a child was injured while in their care.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department states that Deidre K. Goff was arrested on Thursday on Lollipop Lane after the baby received an injury on it's head while in her care.
Sheriff Leon Lott states that on October 14, 2008 deputies responded to Providence Northeast Hospital in reference to a three month old baby injured while in the care of the daycare employee. The sheriff says that the incident occurred on October 13 around 10:00 a.m. when the mother after the mother came for a visit with the baby that afternoon and was notified by the worker that the baby was a bit fussy because he hit his face on the "Exersaucer" (bouncer). The mother left not noticing anything visibly wrong, but after taking him home she noticed a swollen bruise on his head and immediately took him to the hospital. Authorities say the baby was admitted to the hospital for a fracture to the skull.
