Dutch police praise local CPFs
Dutch police officials visiting Cape Town say they are impressed with the level of community participation in crime fighting initiatives.

The delegation has been in the Mother City since last weekend.

They are in South Africa as part of a twinning project between the SAPS and its Dutch counterpart.

The delegation has spent the past few days visiting various police stations across the Western Cape.

The Dutch say of all the aspects of South African law enforcement they've experienced, they're most impressed by local community policing forums.

Commissioner Wilma Nijssen says CPF initiatives don't exist in the Netherlands, adding perhaps it's time this changed.

South African cops say they've also learnt a thing or two from their Dutch counterparts.

Border control and tackling drug-related crimes are some of the areas the Netherlands police have specialized in.

The twinning project was officially launched last month and will run for the next 3 to 4 years.
